These six steps will help your bomber stay full, warm and true to shape, from the day it arrives.

Spot clean first
For small marks, dab the area with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent before considering a full wash.

Hand wash in cold water
When a full wash is needed, hand wash only, in cold water, gently pressing rather than scrubbing or wringing.

Keep it away from bleach, the tumble dryer and dry cleaning

Dry naturally
Lay the jacket flat or hang it somewhere warm and airy, away from direct heat, until completely dry.

Reshape as it dries
Gently shake and fluff the jacket occasionally while it dries to help the filling settle evenly.

Iron low, if at all
Use a low heat setting only, and store the jacket hung or loosely folded rather than compressed.
